The kit is based on the actual Lewis Mill located above Telluride, Colorado at about 12,450ft... It was built in the late 1800's and still stands today in preserved condition. More information can be found from the Ouray County Historical Society. The original mill did not have railroad access so I have made a slight change to the dock for freight cars and I have changed the lower heavy timber foundation a bit to better fit our model. The original mill was covered in wood with a tar-paper roof, this is what our model depicts...Later in life the mill had corrugated siding above the heavy timber base and corrugated metal roof.. If you are in HO and modeling standard gauge then I suggest buying the S scale version as its a bit taller.
